About GSEM URFU

Graduate School of Economics and Management is the largest institute of Ural Federal University. It combines fundamental education and practical application of gained knowledge.

GSEM is an acclaimed centre for training of specialists in economics and management that operates for the benefit of socio-economic development of the Ural Federal District and biggest employers in postindustrial sectors of national economy.

Graduate School of Economics and Management comprises today 7 departments, more than 4000 students, 50 PhD candidates and 6000 lecturers, among them 288 PhD and 83 doctorate holders.

One of the main principles of the institute is adherence to the highest international standards in education and research. It is a tradition to hold presentations, training courses and master classes for the School’s students conducted by leading Russian and international companies – prospective employers for our graduates. Our School works in close cooperation with business partners and government authorities. It is aimed at providing in-depth academic knowledge and good practical skills. GSEM offers a number of elite Bachelor, Master and MBA programmes, including Double Degree. Graduate School of Economics and Management has a lot of hope, plans, great and small projects. School’s plans include development of education and research programmes, projects with Russian and foreign partners.

On October 21, 2009 Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the Decree on the establishment of the Ural Federal University. On October 7, 2010 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin approved the 5-year programme of the Ural Federal University development. Adoption of the development programme allowed us to work on specific tasks assigned to the university. As a result of the hard work of the management and teaching staff, the Institute of UrFU, Graduate School of Economics and Management (GSEM UrFU) has been established. GSEM UrFU has brought together well-known faculties of the Ural State Technical University and the Ural State University, namely:

  • USTU Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM);
  • USTU Faculty of Information Technology and Mathematical Economic Modeling (FITMEM);
  • USTU Business School;
  • USU Faculty of Economics.

February 2, 2011 may be considered the day of GSEM UrFU anniversary. To date, the school steadily follows its goals, expands international cooperation, carries out joint research and works on training and retraining of working staff on demand of the corporate partners.

 

Graduate School of Economics and Management of Ural Federal University is one of the leading business school in Russia which is founded on the basis of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Information and Mathematic Technologies and Mathematic Modeling, Business School (Ural State Technical University - all), and Faculty of Economics, Ural State University. GSEM UrFU offers to its students fundamental theoretical knowledge as well as practical aspects of applied economics and management alongside with profound study of mathematics.

GSEM UrFU is the biggest regional research center in the field of fundamental studies in economics and management and engineering economics studies.

 

In 2011 GSEM UrFU became a member of European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) which unites over 750 member organizations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 81 countries. Nowadays, GSEM prepares its Bachelor Program in International Economics and Business for EPAS accreditation (European Program Accreditation System).
